Adventurous beginners, are you ready to graduate from crocheting straight scarves or basic triangle shawls? 

Join us and Australian crochet designer, Deanne Ramsay, here on our alpaca farm in Murrumbateman for this crochet shawl shaping workshop. This 3 hour Create @ Blackwattle session explores a variety of shawl shapes as Deanne teaches you how to achieve them using simple shaping techniques.

Shapes featured in the workshop include; 

- Side-to-side triangle

- Asymmetrical triangle

- Semi-circle

- Shallow crescent 

- Shallow crescent using short rows.

After discussing each shape, you can choose your favourite and work up a sample that has the potential of becoming a full sized project if you wish.

The session also includes morning tea, coffee and an opportunity to join us after the session for a complimentary alpaca hand feeding experience (weather permitting). 

Class Requirements:

This workshop will require you to bring along:

  • 8ply/DK weight yarn and a suitable hook for creating mini samples.
  • A skein of fingering weight yarn and your favourite 4.5mm hook to begin a large shawl version.
  • Stitch markers

Summary of inclusions:

  • 3 hours guidance from a highly experienced crochet designer.
  • Intimate small group setting - plenty of opportunity for questions.
  • Morning tea, tea and coffee
  • A hand feeding experience with our alpacas.

About the tutor, Deanne Ramsay

Deanne has been crocheting for almost 40 years. She began self-publishing designs in 2010 (81 patterns published to date) and has been featured in publications such as Inside Crochet, Yarnologie and Moorit. Teaching since 2017, Deanne has held workshops at yarn stores such as Makerie (Gungahlin), Skein Sisters (Sydney) and Blackwattle Yarn (Murrumbateman) as well as the Yarn Creative Retreat (Barossa.)
