Create @ Blackwattle - Create Crocheted Socks

From AUD $195.00
  • Duration: 7 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Murrumbateman, NSW
  • Product code: DRCro2

Yes, crochet is for socks, too! You can make the the squishiest, cosiest, warmest socks in no time at all with a crochet hook. Join us and Australian crochet designer, Deanne Ramsay, here on our alpaca farm in Murrumbateman this Socktober to learn how. The 7 hour Create @ Blackwattle session is designed to teach intermediate level crocheters basic sock anatomy and take you through all the steps required for creating a crocheted sock from the toe up.

Best suited to crafters who already understand the basics of crochet. The technique Deanne will teach you is a terrific method because not only does it allow you to try your sock on as you go to ensure you have the perfect fit, but you can utilise every last bit of your yarn without the risk of running out, and there is no seaming at the end.

You will learn how to:

- Create a toe box
- Shape a gusset
- Create a heel turn and heel flap
- Learn tricks for shaping the leg and allowing for a high instep

At the end of the workshop you will have created a mini sock using all the the above techniques. Leave with the confidence needed to create the perfect fitting pair for yourself at home using your remaining yarns and a bonus pattern provided by Deanne!

During this workshop you will be working with our Mallee yarn base, of which 2 x 100 gram skein will be provided. Made of a machine washable blend of 75% superwashed merino wool and 25% nylon, this range of 4ply fingering weight yarns is a hardwearing option with a delicious soft touch.

The workshop cost also includes morning tea, all day tea and coffee, a sit down hot lunch and a complimentary alpaca hand feeding experience after your lunch break! (weather permitting).
