LEARN TO KNIT - Toe Up Knitted Socks
- Duration: 7 Hours (approx.)
- Location: Murrumbateman, NSW
- Product code: CABKNIT04
Our Toe Up Knitted Socks workshop is designed to teach intermediate level knitters basic knitted sock anatomy and take you through all the steps required for creating a knitted sock from the toe up. Join us and local Canberran knitting guru, Jacqui Kempton, here on our alpaca farm in Murrumbateman to expand your knitting skills to include creating your own special handmade socks!
Best suited to crafters who already understand the basics of knitting. The technique Jacqui will teach you is a terrific method because not only does it allow you to try your sock on as you go to ensure you have the perfect fit, but you can utilise every last bit of your yarn without the risk of running out.
During this 7 hour Create @ Blackwattle session you'll be taught to;
- Knit in the round using one circular needle and the magic loop method
- Cast on a closed toe
- Shape a toe
- Shape a gusset
- Create a heel flap
- Use increases to shape the calf of a sock
At the end of the workshop you will have created a mini sock using all the the above techniques. Once you have the skills to make the mini baby sized socks, the rest is just a matter of adding stitches and rows to expand them to fit you or your brood at home using your remaining yarns!
During this workshop you will be working with our Mallee yarn base, of which 1 x 100 gram skein will be provided. Made of a machine washable blend of 75% superwashed merino wool and 25% nylon, this range of 4ply fingering weight yarns is a hardwearing option with a delicious soft touch.
