LEARN TO KNIT - Beginners Sampler Scarf

From AUD $175.00
  • Duration: 5 Hours (approx.)
  • Location: Murrumbateman, NSW
  • Product code: CABKNIT02

Our Beginners Sampler Scarf workshop is designed for new knitters who are ready to progress from the basic knit and purl stitches. Join us and local Canberran knitting guru, Clare Lovell, here on our alpaca farm in Murrumbateman to learn how to combine knits and purls to create all sorts of different stitch patterns and different knitted textures.

During this 5 hour Create @ Blackwattle session you'll be taught the next steps in your knitting journey, including;
- How to cast a new project on and off
- How to read written knitting patterns
- 7 beginners stitch patterns using your knit and purl experience
- How to block a finished project

The seven new stitch patterns that Clare will teach you in this session form the basis for your first knitting pattern - the Beginners Sampler Scarf. The provided pattern combines Stockinette, Garter, Moss, Mistake Rib, Seed Stitch Diamonds, Steep Diagonal Rib and Pennant Stitch patterns to create a beautiful completed single skein scarf.

During this workshop you will be working with our delicious Blue Gum 8ply DK weight wool, of which an 100 gram skeins will be provided as well as a set of ChiaoGoo 4.5mm bamboo tip knitting needles and the matching interchangeable ChiaoGoo Twist 55cm Red cable to get you started.

The workshop cost also includes lunch onsite and a complimentary alpaca hand feeding experience! (weather permitting).

About the tutor, Clare Lovell

We have had the pleasure of partnering with Clare when founder of Canberra's former Stitching Room, a stockist of Blackwattle Yarns. Clare brings with her a wealth of knowledge regarding sewing, knitting and crocheting. For Clare, these crafts have been a way to unwind. She loves being able to create something from nothing, and feel the textures of wool between her fingers as she knits and crochets.
